Places to visit

kalvaria Banska Stiavnica ubytovanie air

The Banská Štiavnica Calvary is a complex of sacral buildings in the Baroque style consisting of three churches, nineteen chapels and a sculpture of the Virgin Mary, and its location on a hill in the middle of the Štiavnica volcano dominates Banská Štiavnica.

The New Castle building is one of the architectural icons of the city. Its silhouette is unique in Europe, reminiscent of a rocket. It houses an exhibition of anti-Turkish battles with unique demonstrations of weapons. In addition, the castle offers visitors a unique view of the city.

Old Castle is considered a “stone chronicle of the town“. Its walls are the gate to the oldest secrets of Štiavnica. Long ago it used to be a church, but it was transformed into a fortress during the period of Turkish thread. 

Open Air Mining Museum (mining outdoor museum) is an exhibition on the surface and underground. Exhibition on the surface presents mining buildings and equipment moved here from various regions of Slovakia, educational geological exhibition and exhibition of quarrying and mining machines.

Miners once built an incredible body of water, with sixty interconnected reservoirs supplying energy for prosperous mining. Fascinating is not only the story of this huge water work, but also the harmonious setting of secrets in nature.

Gourmet Dish

A perfect harmony of food and beer.

Discover the irresistible culinary specialities that you can taste in the restaurant – directly in the birthplace of the unique ERB Brewery. Brewery that could produce beer of extraordinary taste and high quality.

The menu contains a few dishes that change daily. They cook only from fresh ingredients of the highest quality. The main form of preparing the food is grilling. The dishes they will cook choose according to what is currently seasonally available and freshest.

Lemberg is the only vegetarian and vegan bistro in Banská Štiavnica. The company is about healthy food and is for everyone who wants to try something new, tasty and high quality.

Canteen Tratória won us over with its location and traditional food, according to the recipes of grandmothers. Sitting in a pleasant environment with a terrace, which is located directly in the busiest part of the historic center at the nácko statue of Štiavnica

It offers various types of burgers in a pleasant environment with friendly service. They also have a gluten-free version on offer. And for beer lovers, Kaltenecker flows from the bar.

An extraordinary cafe with an excellent breakfast with an unforgettable atmosphere. Only one is certain: To succumb to the temptation of a mysterious woman is easier than to find an inspiring and pleasant café.

Opera Prosecco Bar

Pleasant sitting in a charming setting with a fountain. Excellent breakfast and coffee to jump on. The evening offers an incredible atmosphere, often with concentrations of local artists.

RUIN bar is an alternative bar in which you can soak up the past in its magnificent glory. Its walls are preserved in a found condition. They are fixed as their owners found - exposed bricks, visible stains on coal tar, or exposed cracks in the centuries-old walls. In a unique atmosphere you can enjoy a good coffee, drinks / they specialise mainly in gin / and from the  tap flows  beer Bakalař.

A small wine shop in the historic building of the Mining Museum. This building is the former headquarters of the Comoros - Kammerhof. They specialize in wines from the Štiavnica hills, where vineyards grow on volcanic soil. The volcano is a special landscape element. The volcano first destroys everything and then gives enormous wealth. For grapes, this rich soil is full of important minerals.
